Mater and TUH do some program activities together (including start of year orientation, allocations and education delivery), including program activities separately (including governance, recruitment, delivering accredited placements, certifying completion and evaluation).

The partnership is formalised under the Clinical Placement Agreement for the Clinical Placement of Interns between THHS and Mater Private Hospital Townsville. Mater also has a rotational relationship with North West Hospital and Health Service (NWHHS), for the delivery of Emergency Department (ED) rotations by Mount Isa ED and surgical rotations by Mater.

Placements have been accredited by Prevocational Medical Accreditation Queensland (PMAQ). Mater Private Hospital Townsville is accredited to oversee Intern recruitment and successful completion of the Intern Training Program.
